IV. Supplier of Last Resort (SoLR)

a. What is the Supplier of Last Resort (SoLR)

A Supplier of Last Resort (SOLR) is an entity that provides Last Resort Supply to contestable customers who suddenly find themselves without a Retail Electricity Supplier (RES).

Last Resort Supply is regulated by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) as a back-up supply for contestable customers upon discovery of any of the Last Resort Supply Event:

The SOLR is not a ‘generator of last resort’ in times of power shortage or black out. Such events are managed by the System Operator and the DU, and will be guided by the procedures in the WESM Rules (Amendments), the Grid Code and the Distribution Code.
